Frequently asked questions
Will the watermark be the same size on photos of different sizes?
Size, margin and spacing are all calculated as a percentage of the photo's shorter edge. So whether the photo is 4000 or 1000 pixels, the watermark looks the same proportionally. Even with a mix of landscape and portrait photos, basing it on the shorter edge keeps the watermark from getting oversized on one of them.
Can a watermark completely prevent image theft?
Not completely. A small watermark in a corner is easy to crop out or erase. If theft is a concern, a common approach is to use 'Tile' to lay a semi-transparent watermark across the whole photo, with opacity around 20–40%, so it doesn't spoil viewing but is hard to remove.
Is my logo's transparent background preserved?
If you use a PNG or WebP logo with a transparent background, the transparent parts stay see-through and only the logo shape is stamped. JPG logos have no transparency, so a white rectangle gets stamped along with them — use a transparent PNG logo whenever possible.
Is my original photo changed or uploaded to a server?
No. The original file is left untouched; a new watermarked file is created for you to download (with _wm added to the end of the file name). Everything happens inside this browser and your photos are never sent anywhere.
Does saving change the quality or file size?
The image is re-encoded after the watermark is drawn, so JPG and WebP files may end up larger or smaller than the original depending on the quality value. For quality close to the original, set quality to 90 or higher. PNG is lossless but can make photo files much larger. The output files do not include EXIF metadata (camera details or location).
Can I reuse my settings next time?
Settings such as the text, font, position and opacity are remembered automatically in this browser and restored on your next visit. The logo image file is not saved, so you'll need to choose it again.
