How to use
- Drag and drop one photo or click to choose it (pasting with Ctrl+V works too).
- On the Crop tab, choose a ratio preset and drag the box to set its position and size. You can also type pixel values directly.
- Straighten tilted photos on the Rotate & flip tab with a 90° turn or a fine angle between −45° and 45°.
- For an Instagram feed, pick a 3×1 to 3×4 preset on the Grid split tab and choose the tile ratio.
- Choose an output format and download. Split tiles can be saved one by one from the list or as a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
In what order should I post Instagram 3×3 grid tiles?
Your Instagram profile grid puts the most recent post at the top left. So you need to post the bottom-right tile of the finished picture first and the top-left tile last. Turn on 'Upload order numbers' and file names get _01, _02 … in order, so just post them one at a time in number order. Rows are 3 across, so the number of tiles should be a multiple of 3 to keep your existing posts aligned.
Should Instagram grid tiles be 1:1 or 3:4?
Since January 2025, the Instagram profile grid shows 3:4 portrait thumbnails instead of squares (as of 2026-09-23). To make the picture look continuous on your profile, 3:4 is recommended. With 1:1 or 4:5 tiles, the left and right edges are slightly cropped in the grid and the seams may not line up. The posts themselves can be 1:1, 4:5 or 3:4.
I tilted my photo slightly and now there are empty corners.
Choose 'Auto-crop, no empty corners' on the Rotate & flip tab to keep only the largest rectangle (at the original ratio) that fits inside the rotated photo, so no empty corners appear. The bigger the angle, though, the more of the edges gets cropped. If you don't want to lose any of the photo, choose 'Expand canvas' and leave the empty areas transparent or fill them with a color.
Does cropping reduce image quality?
Cropping and 90° rotation or flipping only move pixels around, so saving as PNG loses no quality at all. Saving as JPG or WebP recompresses the image, so a quality value of 90 or above is a good idea. Rotating by an arbitrary angle, such as in 1° steps, interpolates pixels and can make the image very slightly softer.
Can I crop to an exact size like 1080×1350 pixels?
Choose the 4:5 ratio preset and type 1080 in the width field; the height is calculated as 1350 automatically. If the original is smaller than that, the crop is fitted to the largest size possible within the original — this tool does not enlarge (upscale). To change the pixel dimensions themselves, also use the resize option in the compression tool.
Will iPhone photos open sideways?
The browser applies the EXIF orientation information when loading the photo, so it opens the same way you saw it in your phone's gallery. The saved result has no orientation tag; the pixels themselves are stored in that orientation, so it looks the same in every app.
